Watercolor of the day ~ Hen of Lore

Hen of Lore #1 ~ Watercolor by John Klobucher

Hello friends and art fans! Here’s a little Art of Lore

I grew up near my cousins’ dairy farm and have many fond memories of time spent in the pastures, cow barn, and hen houses. So I took great pleasure in painting this cheery, nostalgic watercolor of a plump country hen on parade in her sunny barnyard.

Now I’ll confess that the model for this scene (which I encountered in Cooperstown, New York a few years ago) was not actually a hen of many colors. But I think this plumage suits her well. Don’t you?!

Hello friends and art fans! Here’s a little Art of Lore

Many years ago on an epic quest, I came across this friendly donkey in the Black Hills of South Dakota, not far from Mount Rushmore. But in this painting, she’s made her way a thousand miles southwest to the edge of a Utah canyon where she seems right at home on a narrow trail in the morning sun. Anyone want a ride? Hop on!

Hello friends and art fans! Here’s a little Art of Lore

This porcine picture is based on a pigpen I once saw at a farm in Cooperstown, New York. To tell the truth, the featured piglet wasn’t actually purple as I’ve painted her, but I’m sure she’d be quite pleased with her prettified portrait.
