This happy little watercolor is an old classic that depicts a path through the grassy sand dunes of a Cape Cod beach on a perfect summer day. I rediscovered it in the attic and figured that it deserved some time in the sun again.

This idyllic scene comes from the shores of Oaxaca on Mexico’s wild but beautiful southwest coast. The jungle begins not far from where I found this surreal windowed wall. You can see it encroaching on the stuccoed structure, reaching to reclaim the ocean vista it once commanded all alone.

I was visiting the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico when I painted this colorful vista of Tangolunda Bay on the Pacific Ocean. I’ll give credit to the hot Mexican sun, which dried my paints so fast that I opted for a loose, impressionist style.
